The opportunity

An exciting opportunity now exists within a leading luxury, high-end building company for a Health and Safety Officer, on a permanent full-time basis, in Melbourne’s inner East. This is the perfect opportunity for someone looking to launch their career in safety by working within a high-level, supportive team in the construction industry.
 
This role will be responsible for assisting the site manager in ensuring the company’s health, safety and environmental objectives are achieved.
 
About the role:
The role reports to the site manager and works closely with the broader HSE team.
 
Duties:

  • Carry out health and safety investigations, audits and inspections
  • Identifying and implementing risk mitigation strategies on-site
  • Coach, train and provide advice to workers on WHS requirements and risk management
  • Carry out operational safety tasks (installation of guard-rails, etc.)
  • Effectively liaise with relevant stakeholders

 
Skills and requirements:

  • Good working knowledge of health and safety legislation
  • Trade experience preferred, or experience in construction, (residential/commercial).
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to provide WHS advice to all levels of staff
  • Formal qualifications in safety (Cert IV/Diploma minimum)
